Dog the bounty hunter cast his eyes across the forest, the horizon. He was waiting for his prey.

“Haaa,” a man’s voice boomed in the distance.

Dog was up on his feet, looking around in a daze. It was a man who spoke English. “Haaa, a man is here.” He called again.

Dog didn’t move.

The man spoke again, slightly louder this time. “Come to me. I am not an enemy. I want to help you.”

Dog didn’t move.

He stood still. A few moments later, he watched as a man walked through the trees towards him. “You must trust me.” the man said as he walked through the trees, his gun swinging from side to side.

Dog slowly got up and looked at the man. He had his eyes closed, as if he was in pain. His clothes were stained with blood, covering him in streaks. His hands shook as he kept them in front of his face. He was wearing a black hoodie, and he kept his hands held up by his head.

“Please,” the man whimpered,”Help me. I’m hurt.”

Dog got up and grabbed the man’s shirt, as the man grabbed his face. “Help me!” the man yelled.

Dog tried to speak, but couldn’t, he started to cough and then coughed up a lot of blood. He fell back and looked up at the man.

The man held his hands up in surrender. “Please,” he whispered, “What happened?”

Dog stood up and slowly walked back to his rifle. He walked to the man and looked down at him. “I was following a man, when I saw him jump into a truck. I don’t know who he is, but I’m gonna find out. You’re going to help me.”

The man nodded as Dog turned to the truck and saw the driver still had his eyes closed and his head resting on the steering wheel. Dog walked up and knocked on the window. The truck came to a stop, and the man looked at him with red eyes. He slowly rolled down the window, and looked at Dog.

“Who are you?”

“I don’t know,” Dog said,” but I’m here to help you.”

“Is there anything I can do?” the man asked as he rubbed his right shoulder.

“No,” Dog replied as he got in the truck. “Just go to the nearest medical facility and wait for them to get there.”

The man slowly drove to the nearest emergency room. He wasn’t sure who or what they would tell him, but Dog had said that they would help.

“Hi,” the young doctor in a green scrubs uniform said as he walked up to the man, “Can I help you?”

“Yes,” the man responded. “There’s a dog in my truck. I think I might need help.”

“What is he doing?” the doctor asked, as he pointed to the truck.

“I don’t know,” the man replied as he sat down in a chair.

The doctor turned to the young woman next to him. “How long has it been since you’ve had some rest?”

“Last night,” the young woman answered as she stretched.

“Ok, I think we can take care of this right now.” The doctor said as he turned to the truck. “Get out of the truck, sir.”

The man obeyed, but the young woman quickly jumped out of the truck to see what was going on.

“What’s the dog’s name?” the young woman asked.

“It’s a husky,” the man answered.

The young woman then turned to the doctor. “This dog could be dangerous. We need to give him some shots before he hurts himself.”

“What can I do?” the man asked.

“Nothing,” the doctor said. “Get back in your truck.”

The man quickly went back into the truck and got in his seat. He was sure he was going to get in trouble for this. After all, the dog had attacked him first. However, as he watched the doctor and the young woman give the husky shots, he relaxed. If this was done by an American, then he couldn’t possibly be in trouble.

“We’re done. We’re going to take care of the dog,” the doctor said as he got back into the truck.

“Thank you for not making me take the shots,” the man said, a sense of gratitude rising within him.

“No problem. I wasn’t going to do that, anyway. It’s always better if you don’t hurt yourself.” The young woman said as she got back into the truck.

Once again, the man was shocked. Here was a young woman from a foreign country, just out of college, and she’s caring for a dog. In fact, he wasn’t even sure if she was a woman or a man. As he watched the girl buckle herself into her seat, she smiled at him. It made him feel a little better, despite the fact that he had just been on the receiving end of some pretty vicious bites from the dog.

The doctor started the truck and slowly backed it out of the parking lot. After a few minutes, he pulled into a nearby parking lot and stopped the truck. The doctor got out and went around to the back of the truck.

“Thanks, again,” the man said as he followed the doctor and the young woman back to the truck.

“No problem. You’re welcome,” the doctor said.

“How much is that dog?” the man asked, wondering how they would pay for his care.

“Oh, I don’t know,” the young woman said as she opened the back door of the truck and retrieved the box from inside the cab. “I bought him at a flea market yesterday. I thought he was a stray dog but his tags didn’t say where he was from. He’s been alone for quite some time. When I heard him meowing, I couldn’t resist.”

“Oh, it’s nothing,” the doctor said as he walked around to the back of the truck and opened the box. “See? He’s a sweet dog. We’ll take care of him for you.”

“Well, I don’t know.”

“We’ll have the paperwork done for you in no time,” the doctor said as he walked around the back of the truck. “This little guy just needs to be spayed and neutered
